Reheat only. It gently brings already-cooked food up to eating temperature. It will not cook raw meat, dry rice or uncooked stew.

The stainless liner lifts straight out and goes in the dishwasher. Wipe the outer shell with a damp cloth — do not submerge it, since that is where the battery and element live. The lid seal pulls out for a proper wash when something goes everywhere.
